Welcome to Taming of the antithesis proposition or Tamping AP for short. Why such a weird name for this blog? I wanted a name that was unusual and quirky and relates to the stories that I read and write. Here, on this blog you will find my books available for sale (digital only), blog articles on writing tips, short stories, novel extracts, poetry, book reviews, essays and other book related content. In addition, links to my poetry on SoundCloud, audiobooks, and my You Tube content. This blog is not only about my stories, but about my insight as well from my recommendations of books that I have found interesting and ‘case study’ essays on authors works that I found inspiring.

Biography
Helana Campling
Taming of the Antithesis Proposition is my creative outlet to show my writing. A place where I can experiment with different writing styles and explore weird, eerie, wonderful and imaginative stories. My stories on Taming AP will different as I explore different styles as a new writer, I have not settled on a particular genre, but my interest range from gothic, supernatural, fantasy, romantasy, drama, thriller – so mainly speculative fiction at the heart with a healthy dose of philosophical ideas and of course the retelling of forgotten myths from around the world.
The original thought behind Taming AP was an online magazine focusing more on non- fiction, mainly essays on subjects I found interesting however, my thoughts have shifted more towards creative writing for this blog. I will be active on You Tube, TikTok and Instagram over the coming months, so feel free to follow me there.

Pacify, restrain and incite discipline by enslaving the inner critic
It helps to quiten self-doubt by establishing a writing routine, and by restraining your writing time to your writing word daily allowance – an allowance you can set yourself; with the time that you have available. This will pacify those pesky feelings of not worthy and the inner critic can be brought out of enslavement to cast a critical eye over your first draft. Use the inner critic in your editing not your writing.
Connect to your epithelial humble self, surrender yourself
Connect with your creativity don’t let your neatness and perfection get in the way of connecting with your inner writer – but also don’t write with your ego, be humble. Being a writer is about gaining balance and is contradictory in it’s nature.

Protect your writing time and vanquish any negative self talk and replace ‘I can’t’ with ‘I can’, stop holding yourself back and stop others holding you back.

Creating contrasts in characters can liberate their character arc, move them from a boring character to an interesting one
Every main character in most novels is usually boring, it is the story and the other characters that are from more interesting. By creating multi layered character that goes on a journey of change and contrasts with their former self results in a more interesting character.

Be humble in your writing and always learn, on the contrary take pride in your achievements do not let them let them be overlooked.
Always willing to learn, research a new story this will avoid cliches and repeated stories, be humble but also celebrate your achievements.

Fix your writing - let it go out into the world - nothing is perfect
You can tweak, tease your writing but nothing is perfect, you will have to let it go at some point.
Train your mind to domesticize itself as regards to the story - let it go
Regain your focus by protecting your writing time, stay on track with your outline as this will derail the main story and lead to plot holes.
Mend your mind with any rejections you receive, receiving rejections means people are reading your work
Develops a thick skin, mend your mind to rejections – rejections are positive. Rejections mean people are looking at your work.
Give yourself time surrender to the written word - enjoy!
